Named after its originator, Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, a physicist,
the Feldenkrais Method focuses on helping people to expand
their range of motion and improve breathing and body alignment.
The system uses more than 1000 different exercises to help
the body reprogram the brain for better mind/body function.
Feldenkrais teachers can work with students either one-on-one
or in group settings.
In a session,
the Feldenkrais practitioner communicates the movements
through slow, gentle touch. Comfortably clothed, the student
is led through a series of precise movements that alter
habitual patterns and provide new learning directly to the
neuromuscular system. Due to the non-intrusive nature of
the Feldenkrais Method, it has been found very effective
for those with physical handicaps that prevent more traditional
types of bodywork.
